RatesSpot

Acceptable Use Policy

Effective May 30, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the RatesSpot platform and services. It applies to merchants, their staff, and end customers using customer-facing surfaces. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account, removal of content, or referral to law enforcement.

1. Prohibited Content

You may not use RatesSpot to list, promote, or facilitate:

  • Goods or services that are illegal in the jurisdiction of the merchant or customer.
  • Sexual or escort services, regardless of local legality.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or weapon accessories.
  • Controlled substances, including cannabis where federally illegal.
  • Counterfeit goods, infringing intellectual property, or stolen merchandise.
  • Gambling, lotteries, or games of chance with cash payouts.
  • Multi-level marketing, pyramid schemes, or get-rich-quick programs.
  • Hate speech, incitement to violence, or content targeting protected classes.
  • Child sexual abuse material — reported to NCMEC and law enforcement on detection.

2. Prohibited Conduct

You may not, directly or through automation:

  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the platform without prior written consent. Security research belongs in our disclosure program.
  • Send unsolicited bulk email, SMS, or push notifications to customers who did not opt in. Booking confirmations and required service notices are excluded.
  • Misrepresent yourself, your business, or the goods or services you offer.
  • Use customer data obtained through RatesSpot for purposes outside the original booking transaction without explicit consent.
  • Harvest or scrape user data, reviews, or pricing information.
  • Interfere with the platform's operation — denial-of-service, spam pricing recalculations, abuse of recompute endpoints, etc.
  • Reverse-engineer the platform or its APIs except as expressly permitted.

3. Customer Treatment

Merchants must honour their published terms in good faith: cancellation policies that apply when typed; deposit policies that match what was charged; resource descriptions that match what is delivered. Discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or disability is prohibited and may be subject to local civil-rights law.

4. Spam and Communications

Marketing communications sent via RatesSpot must comply with CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR ePrivacy, and applicable SMS regulations (10DLC in the US, CTIA guidelines). All marketing surfaces must respect unsubscribe within 10 business days. RatesSpot may throttle or block senders with high complaint rates, regardless of explicit opt-in claims.

5. API Rate Limits and Fair Use

Each merchant account is subject to baseline rate limits documented in the developer area. Bulk operations (recomputes, exports, imports) should be scheduled outside peak hours where possible. Sustained traffic that disrupts shared infrastructure may be rate-limited or charged additional infrastructure fees as outlined in your plan.

6. Reporting Violations

If you observe a violation of this AUP, email abuse@ratesspot.com. For security vulnerabilities, use the disclosure process at /security. For CSAM, contact csam@ratesspot.com or report directly to NCMEC CyberTipline.

7. Enforcement

We may take any action we deem necessary to enforce this policy, including suspending or terminating accounts, removing content, freezing payouts pending investigation, or referring matters to law enforcement. We try to give notice and a chance to cure for first offences; egregious or repeat violations may receive no warning. Decisions can be appealed to appeals@ratesspot.com.
